Train to be a Yoga Teacher

Join our three-day immersion for aspiring yoga teachers 24-26 January 2020

Are you thinking of doing your first yoga teacher training? We have developed an educational and inspiring three-day programme that will give you a taste of what being on a teacher training programme feels like. Over the course of a fun and informative weekend, we will give you information on what to expect from a full-length training course, what topics may be covered and a typical structure. You will also get the opportunity to reflect on your motives, needs and hopes of a teacher training programme.

Some people go on a teacher training course as a personal journey to develop their own yoga practice and take it to the next level. Others embark on training as part of a career change; to teach classes, corporate wellness or at yoga studios, or to teach friends, family and wider groups of people. We hope our programme provides you with the perfect stepping stone before embarking on a full teacher training of your own.

This is a short programme designed to cover five main areas:

  • Introduction to Teacher Training: a Friday night yoga stretch followed by a workshop style discussion on the journey from student to yoga teacher. We'll cover elements including the application process for becoming a student on a YTT, what to expect from your first yoga teacher training and finding out what's important to you when selecting a yoga school to train with.

  • Sequencing and Adjustments: a workshop with Jonelle Lewis and Will Wheeler to understand the key areas of sequencing and adjustment which make up a big part of a YTT. We'll cover why sequencing is important, how to sequence in a simple three step approach and you'll go home with some foundational knowledge on how to build your own yoga routine at home. We will also cover the art of adjustments; learning some key assists and how to work safely with a moving body within the setting of a yoga class.

  • Community Yoga: a big part of what sets LEVELSIX apart from other studios is our commitment to making yoga accessible and our outreach within the community. Will Wheeler will lead a discussion about what community means as a student, teacher and as a yoga studio. We'll think about community from these various perspectives and how we can use yoga to create community.

  • Restorative Yoga: why is this an important part of a TT? This element will be led by our wonderful Annie Edwards who will work on making yoga accessible for all bodies. You'll take home your own restorative yoga sequence to work with or apply in your future trainings and teachings.

  • Yoga Philosophy: the weekend will include seminars on yogic philosophy and history from our guest teacher, Eryck Brahmania. Yoga philosophy sets a context and foundation for all teachings as yoga teachers. Eryck will cover the origins of yoga and integrating philosophy into classes.

There will be plenty of time to answer all your questions, to share experiences and build a dynamic community over the course of the three days.
