POSITIVE BIRTH MOVEMENT PECKHAM

Postive Birth Movement Peckham

Postive Birth Movement Peckham are hosted by LEVELSIX and the Baby and Me morning on the last Thursday of the month.

This is a place for ALL pregnant women regardless of their background, experience or choices, to come together and share experiences, thoughts, feelings and insight about childbirth.

Every month Postive Birth Movement Peckham talk about a different theme.

Come along to meet up, link up and shake up birth!

About the Positive Birth Movement

Postive Birth Movement is a global network of antenatal discussion groups to connect pregnant women together to share stories, expertise and positivity about childbirth. They aim to challenge the epidemic of negativity and fear that surrounds modern birth, and help change birth for the better. Unlike traditional ‘antenatal classes’, in Positive Birth Movement groups women listen to each other, rather than to a teacher. There is usually a ‘theme’ for discussion. Groups usually start with some introductions from the facilitator, but after that it’s over to the group to talk and share and learn from each other.

Positive Birth Movement aims to be a helpful part of your pregnancy; a warm and welcoming place to hear stories and ideas, to consider what you really want from your childbirth experience, and to challenge any fears or negative expectations you might have. It is also a place to build a network of friendship and support in your local area which will hopefully continue long after the birth of your baby.

Follow Postive Birth Movement on Instagram.

This is a FREE event. No booking required, just come along on the day.

ABOUT IZZIE LANKESTER
Izzie’s love of yoga started several years ago and after completing her training at Yoga London she has been teaching in studios and corporates in Central and South London.

Her classes are a reflection of her spirit, she takes inspiration from mandala yoga, power, traditional vinyasa and yin, specialising in creative movement which is mindful yet dynamic. After experiencing the power of yoga herself, Izzie is passionate about sharing her love of yoga with others, helping students realise the potential of their bodies through breath and movement.

Izzie's class style is creative and strong with an emphasis on breath and good alignment. Expect some core work through balances, inversions and playful transitions. She is playful with movement but always grounds her classes with yoga philosophy or an anatomic theme. She offers challenging options for intermediate practitioners as well as variations for beginners.

ABOUT WILL WHEELER
Will is a co-founder of LEVELSIX, a yoga teacher and has been ambassador for brands including Lululemon and Mindful Chef.

Will trained as a yoga teacher with Yogahaven in Morocco and continues his professional development by studying with senior teachers including Sianna Sherman and Jason Crandell (US) and Claire Missingham (UK). He runs retreats and events in various locations around Europe and his yoga adventures have taken him to Bali and India to learn yoga and the study of Ayurveda. This year he is teaching daily yoga at Glastonbury Festival 2019.

Expect dynamic, fun and accessible classes. Students have described Will as teaching classes which are strong, grounding and also offer a spiritual and meditative aspect. He wants everyone to enjoy yoga as much as he does and always offers lots of modifications.

EXPLORING TRANSITIONS

Exploring Transitions with Samuel Nwokeka

You know when you have 5 breaths to try something new in a class environment with lots of people around? Sometimes it’s not the greatest place to learn certain things.

Especially when it comes to certain yoga transitions, there is an art, a technique a way of making them seamless (other than just try try try). This workshop will share techniques and drills to unlock some of those transitions that you have always wanted to master.

Join Samuel for this 2.5 hour workshop where you will be learning how to perfect some transitions, from those that might seem simple like how to float back into Chaturanga, Astavakrasana to Koundinyasana, Bakasana to Chaturanga, Bakasana to tripod headstand, camel to wheel and others.

Together with Samuel, you will explore how everyone being unique impacts certain elements of transitions, why you may just never be able to achieve certain things in yoga, and how we can learn to accept this.

Come and join Samuel in a fun and safe environment to practice and explore.Don’t worry if you have not mastered some of the postures themselves, Samuel will give you drills and techniques on not just the transitions but the postures too.

Expect some surprises and some variations and exciting transitions you may not have seen before.

Price: £30

YOGA NIDRA AND SOUND HEALING

Yoga Nidra and Sound Healing Workshop with Pennie Ludlow

Join guest workshop teacher Pennie Ludlow for a deeply relaxing evening.

This workshop is intended to guide you into a blissful state by combining the therapeutic and enlightening qualities of Yoga Nidra and vibrational sound healing.

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation and conscious relaxation practice.  On the surface it is a beautiful, effortless, deeply relaxing practice, yet you are also guided through powerful procedures that facilitate deep healing, change and growth.  The experience is often likened to waking dreaming and through naturally occurring benefits (like sleep itself) major transformation is possible even in one session.

Sound healing is part of the ancient practice of nada (sound) yoga and offers the opportunity to experience multiple layers of sound from alchemy crystal singing bowls. These unique instruments resonate with specific areas of the endocrine and energetic systems of the body.

Expect to leave feeling powerfully renewed, re-energised, clear and uplifted.

YOGA AND SOUND HEALING WORKSHOP

Yoga and Sound Healing Workshop with Will Wheeler and Josie Ross

Join Will Wheeler and guest energy healer Josie Ross, Founder of Eleven Healing for a nourishing workshop to set you up for the weekend.

Enjoy a stimulating vinyasa flow yoga class with Will, followed by a deeply relaxing sound healing experience led by Josie. Will has combined yoga in sound workshops previously and the two elements go hand in hand beautifully to help you relax at a deeper level.

Sound healing and what to expect

Sound is one of the most ancient healing tools which has been used and explored by human beings for thousands of years.

Josie works with sound through the powerful frequencies of alchemy crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, drums, chimes and light language channelled through her voice. When you receive sound in this therapeutic way you can feel the vibrations working through you, which naturally guides you to listen with your body, taking you away from the mind and into a state of simply being.

Known for her sensitive, compassionate nature and natural affinity with energy, Josie holds an authentic, nurturing and safe space for shifts to unfold on many levels.

Come stretch and feel the sound vibrations!

RASA YOGA 33 HOUR IMMERSION

Rasa Yoga 33 hour Immersion with Tanja Mickwitz

Are you hungry to know more about yoga practice in order to incorporate it into your life with more understanding? This training is designed for all serious practitioners.

The Rasa Yoga 33 hour Immersion is an opportunity to build or re-connect to a fully integrated practice which supports the whole of your life, from the physical form to the most subtle alignment. The tools of yogic practice are not ends in themselves but what we use to find a richer and more fulfilling experience in life. Through practice we heal our body, mind and spirit. We become stronger and more flexible physically and mentally. Practice can be radically life affirming as a way to awaken to the richness of experience and remembering our true essence.

This course is for you if:

  • You want to immerse yourself in all things yoga - not just asana

  • You are ready for deep self reflection and transformation

  • You want a deeper understanding of alignment in asana

  • You are interested in learning about the energy body

  • You want to build your skills of effective and supportive home practice

  • You want to explore mantra, mudra, meditation and pranayama more in-depth

  • You are curious about yoga philosophy and its relevance to daily life

  • You are open to forming new friendships and enjoy practicing in community

  • You are thinking about undertaking teacher training but want to test the waters

  • You are already a yoga teacher but wish to re-inspire your sadhana and you yearn for some time to practice just for yourself

WHAT IS RASA YOGA?
Founded by Sianna Sherman, Rasa Yoga weaves together asana, mantra, mudra, pranayama, meditation and chanting, along with tantra, shadow work, ritual and a deep reverence for nature. It honours the tradition and lineage of yoga, while awakening your authentic creativity as a yoga practitioner in the modern world.

WHAT WILL BE COVERED IN THE IMMERSION?
ASANA - Biomechanically savvy alignment, how vinyasa works, intelligent build and progression of asana, how to begin or refine self practice in a supportive way
MANTRA - How mantra works and plenty of chanting
MUDRA - Introduction to how these energy seals enhance embodied intention
MEDITATION - Guided meditation and how to start a home practice
PRANAYAMA - Different forms of pranayama practices and their effects
PHILOSOPHY - Exploration of living yoga philosophy with Classical Tantric Philosophy as a foundation
SUBTLE BODY - Anchor in the Panchamahabhutas (the five great elements) to start to understand energy body awareness
MYTHOLOGY - How deity archetypes and stories can serve as a point of reflection and empowerment

IS IT A TEACHER TRAINING?
The essential foundation which makes great teachers is a deep and intimate relationship to personal practice. It is dedicated studentship which creates the spark and enthusiasm for inspired teaching. This training is a great first step to become immersed in practice before moving on to teacher training. It is also a great opportunity for teachers curious about Rasa Yoga to find out more whilst taking time to nourish their own practice.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE TRAINING?
The Immersion will run over five days:

Saturday 18 May
Sunday 19 May
Saturday 25 May
Sunday 26 May
Monday 27 May (Bank Holiday)

Each day will run between 9.30 - 5.30pm with a 90 minute lunch break.

LOW PRESSURE FITNESS

LOW PRESSURE FITNESS

Low Pressure Fitness

Pilates and Low Pressure Fitness Trainer Simone Muller will be leading a taster session of Low Pressure Fitness – an effective technique used for core restoration particularly helpful and safe for Diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and pelvic floor recovery including prolapse and incontinence.

Traditional abdominal exercises (crunches) increases abdominal pressure and if present, can worsen pelvic floor dysfunction and Diastasis recti. Low Pressure Fitness based on hypopressive training, uses an apnea or vacuum which reduces intra abdominal pressure. The technique also works to improve posture and breathing, which results in a more functional core and pelvic floor.

Sounds complicated? Why not come along and have a go at the apnea and learn some of the postures.

This event is part of Baby and Me - a parent and baby morning that takes place every Thursday. Baby and Me includes Pregnancy Yoga (9.30 - 10.30am), Postnatal Pilates for Parents (10.45 - 11.45am), birth and baby workshops/discussions led by experts, plus delicious juices, breakfast and lunches with maternal health in mind.
