WINDS OF CHANGE: A NOURISHING WINTER WORKSHOP

Winds of Change: A Nourishing Winter Workshop with Annie Edwards

“On a day when the wind is perfect, the sail just needs to open and the world is full of beauty. Today is such a day.” Rumi

Life is full of beauty, but also hectic and stressful, often leaving us feeling ungrounded. If you have been feeling a little stagnant yoga-wise recently or simply desire the opportunity to attain more stillness, allow this practice to be your medicine.

Annie’s workshop will offer a delicious combination of gentle heart activating restorative yoga poses and yoga nidra to enable the body, heart and mind to relax deeply. The practice will be complimented by poetic offerings from Rumi, Kabir, Hafiz, Mary Oliver and Mark Nepo.

The workshop focus will be on grounding. Annie will guide you through a series of simple and accessible poses that you will hold for long periods of time to go beyond the muscle and work into the fascia and connective tissue of the body.

You will come away from the workshop with an array of tools to nourish yourself and help you manage the winds of change that the winter season offers, feeling a greater sense of trust and freedom to live and love fully.

You are invited to come and share the magic.

LOW PRESSURE FITNESS

LOW PRESSURE FITNESS

Low Pressure Fitness

Pilates and Low Pressure Fitness Trainer Simone Muller will be leading a taster session of Low Pressure Fitness – an effective technique used for core restoration particularly helpful and safe for Diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and pelvic floor recovery including prolapse and incontinence.

Traditional abdominal exercises (crunches) increases abdominal pressure and if present, can worsen pelvic floor dysfunction and Diastasis recti. Low Pressure Fitness based on hypopressive training, uses an apnea or vacuum which reduces intra abdominal pressure. The technique also works to improve posture and breathing, which results in a more functional core and pelvic floor.

Sounds complicated? Why not come along and have a go at the apnea and learn some of the postures.

THE ART OF LIVING FREELY

The Art of Living Freely with Stewart Heffernan

2.00 - 4.00pm

In Chapter 2 of the Yoga Sutra, Patanjali speaks about the five hindrances to Yoga, known as the Kleshas. These hindrances (or afflictions) result in the fluctuations of the mind.

The paradox of the Kleshas for the yogi is that they are both the cause of worldly experiences, and the primary obstacle of Samadhi (Enlightenment, Self-Realisation).

Through thoughtful inquiry, we can investigate how our yoga practice can free us from the bondage of the Kleshas.

This workshop will include:
- a dynamic Jivamukti asana practice
- a look into different ways we can live with more freedom and less attachment
- a Meditation practice

Open to all levels of ability.

Price: £25

If you wish to book for a friend, please contact us.   It is only possible to reserve one space under your own name - everybody needs an account and to sign our online waiver.

YOGA FOUNDATIONS

Yoga Foundations with Andy Gill

2.00 - 4.30pm

In this workshop Andy Gill, a yoga practitioner for over 25 years, will explore the basic movements and postures common to all yoga styles in a simple and accessible way.

All of us bring habitual movement patterns to yoga when we come to the mat, and transferring some of these to the practice of yoga can result in pain or injury if continued.  Understanding how to move in a healthy, safe and optimal way will enable you to realise the full benefit that the practice of yoga offers us all.

In this workshop Andy will explore the following:

  • The importance of breathing
  • Sun salutations and vinyasa style movements

  • Down dog and up dog

  • Safe approaches to forward bending and how to work with tight hamstrings

  • Developing shoulder mobility/flexibility as well as stability

  • Approaches to hip opening

  • Approaches for key yoga asanas such as Trikonasana (Triangle)

  • Flexibility vs stretching

This is an experiential workshop in which Andy will share information and demonstrate to give you the opportunity to practise and experience these approaches for yourself.

As a teacher and a practising life coach, Andy understands and respects the needs of the individual student, placing their needs at the heart of his teaching. He brings an informed and non-dogmatic approach to teaching Ashtanga yoga whilst remaining consistent and true to the traditional method.  The workshop is suitable for students new to yoga, but he will share information that will benefit students with more experience too.

Price: £25
